Frequently asked questions

These are the questions our customers actually ask, answered the way we would answer them on the phone. If yours is not here, message us on WhatsApp — +248 2519909.

Licence and age

Do I need an international driving permit?

A valid national licence in the Latin alphabet is fine for the length of your stay. If your licence is not in the Latin alphabet, bring an International Driving Permit alongside it. Bring the physical licence — a photo on your phone is not accepted at police checks.

What is the minimum age?

21 for most of the fleet and 23 for the SUVs and crossovers, with at least one year of driving experience. The exact minimum is shown on each car's page before you book.

Payment, card pre-authorisation and insurance

Do you take a security deposit?

No cash deposit — and we never store your card number. What we need is a valid credit card in the main driver's name, presented at hand-over, on which we place a pre-authorisation hold. That is not a payment: your bank simply reserves the amount against your available credit and releases it once you return the car in good order, usually within a few working days. We would only turn part of it into a real charge for damage you are liable for, missing fuel, or fines — and we would show you why first. Debit cards, prepaid cards and cards in someone else's name cannot be used for the hold.

Is insurance included, and what is the excess?

Every rental includes comprehensive insurance with a €1,000 excess — that is the most you would pay towards damage in normal circumstances. Adding the collision damage waiver at booking halves it to €500. We do not offer a zero-excess product, and we would rather say so plainly than surprise you at the desk. On an island of narrow mountain roads and tight hotel driveways, most scratches happen while parking — the waiver is what keeps a scuff from getting expensive.

How do I pay?

PayPal, credit or debit card, or cash on delivery. No payment is required to reserve a car — you book, we confirm, you pay at hand-over unless you would rather pay in advance.

Your rental

How is the rental period calculated?

Per 24 hours from your pick-up time. Any part of an extra day is charged as a full day — a car returned at 13:00 on a 10:00 rental counts as an extra day, so tell us if you need a late return and we will usually work around it. All cars are automatic with unlimited mileage.

What is the fuel policy?

Like-for-like: we hand the car over with a full tank and you bring it back full. No refuelling service charge, no pre-purchased tank you cannot use up.

What is the cancellation policy?

Free cancellation up to 24 hours before pick-up — no charge, no questions. Inside 24 hours, message us; we will do what we reasonably can. Full detail is in the rental terms.

Pick-up and getting around

Where do I collect the car?

We meet you in the arrivals hall at Seychelles International Airport with your name on a sign — no counter, no queue. Hand-over is also free at the Cat Cocos ferry terminal in Victoria, and we deliver to any hotel on Mahé.

What if my flight is delayed?

We track the flight number you give us at booking and meet the plane that actually lands. Delays cost you nothing.

Can I take the car to Praslin or La Digue?

No — our cars stay on Mahé. Park free at the Cat Cocos ferry terminal or return the car to us there, cross as a foot passenger, and hire locally on the other island. La Digue is best on a bicycle anyway. We are happy to time your drop-off around the ferry.

Which side of the road?

The left, as in the UK, and the cars are right-hand drive. Because every car we rent is automatic, there is no gear-shifting with the unfamiliar hand — which is the part most visitors find hardest. See our driving guide for road rules and speed limits.
